BLOG CANDY

USA GOODIES

NON USA GOODIES

Well can you belive it - I can't - hit 10,000 WOW, have been doing this bloggin thing for about 4 months now and hit the 10,000 mark. I have made some wonderful friends and have learned so much, paper piercing, stamping techniques, shading (still working on that one), just to name a couple. To thank everyone for their visits and kind words I am offering some blog cancy. OK now to the goodies, want to do this a little differently, I know that sending goodies outside the US gets expensive so I am doing TWO- yes TWO different giveaways, one for those of us in the "Colonies", the USA, and one for everybody else. My Michaels received a new batch of clear stamps the other night so I picked up a bunch. Above is a picture of the goodies, and there will be a couple of additional surprise goodies in your package.

I have noticed that a lot of people have their comments set up with a word verificatin so that they don't get automated comments. Being new at this I must admit that I have received only two weird comments that I just deleted. I hate word verification, sorry I do. Sometimes the letters are diffuclt to tell is that a pnm or prm; or is that a lj or li or is it an or cn - OK, that is enough of my complaining, know you just want to hear what you need to do to have an opportunity to win.

My question is do you have your blog comments set up with word verification and if so why.
Don't forget to tell me if from the USA or where you're from so I know which blog treat you are eligible to win.

Ron, who you all met before (he pulled the last winner) will also be pulling the winner for this one.
Oh forgot to say when I am drawing, to give everyone time, I will draw next Thursday, August 23rd.

I do not use comment verifiction. I hate it when I have to do it on other people's blog....I will still visit their blogs, no worries, I just get frustrated with the verification!

First, I am from the US!
Second, I DO have the word verification. I actually just started this a few weeks ago and the reason I did was because I got a comment from this man and it had a whole bunch of names and the names were links so you just clicked on a name and it took you to a page. I did not click on any of the names because I wasn't sure if this was a virus or some kind of spam or what. I deleted the comment so no one else clicked on any of the names and got any kind of virus or what not. I hate the work verifications as well but I just did this for my readers so that they did not get any harm done to their computer... :)

AAAAAAAAAAAMEN SISTER! DOWN WITH WORD VERIFICATION!! I am so happy to see you write about verification...I'm up to about 23,000 hits and no problems. I am tellin' you..there are times when I don't leave a coment because the computer is asking me to type out a 23 letter word I can't read. You made my day! You really did.

Dana said...

Woohoo! Next thurday when you draw is my anniversary!
Back to the question: I too ABHOR word verification. Drives me nuts and most often I get it wrong and give up rather than starting all over again. I have dial-up at home and I find I just don't comment if I have to type in some random alpha-numerical password.
I took the word verificaion off my blog, but left comment moderation ON. That way I can still verify what the comment is and my readers don't have to type in scrambled words.

I'm from the USA.

I do not like the word verification either. It takes too long to leave the comment and some of them are hard to make out.
Great blog candy.

Thanks,

Hey Florence! Congrats on the blogging success. I do not have word verification on. I did when I first started blogging but then I found it to be a hassle on other sites and figured I better turn mine off.

Thanks for asking...psst... I am in the US of A.

Congrats on your many, many, many hits! That's exciting!! No I don't have word verification and I'm sure it's because I didn't realize I could do it on my blog when I was setting it up. I'm still illiterate when it comes to computers. Sometime I can't read the letters, like you too. Anyway, have a great day.

Hey there!! I'm in the UK. I'm not sure if I have verification on mine as I was a complete novice at blogs when I set it up and made it up as I went along! I'm going to check it now though as I get sooo confused putting it on other blogs!! Well done on so many hits in such a short time.

I am from Canada. I did use comment verification but don't any more. Actually I find it more annoying to have to give a friends email to be able to leave a comment.

Tks for visiting my blog btw and leaving a comment. It is hard to get your blog out there sometimes. Any little bit helps

Hi Flossie,
I am a USA gal!
I too am not a word verification fan! Had it, lost it! It's understandable that it is available for non friendly stalkers (virus's & spam).
I was wondering what your suggestions are, with regard to getting more viewers to come to one's blog site. How many contacts do you make a day? Do you find the auto email from people when they post to be a contributing factor?
You are red hot with your amazing amount of hits! You go girl! The candy looks yum! Deb

It doesn't bother me to have to fill them in on other people's blogs, but I do find it a bit time-consuming ;o) Congratulations on 10K+ hits - that's amazing! Great blog!

Congratulations on all your posts:)

I use word verification even though I hate it myself... mainly cos I don't want my e-mail filled with junk, though I still get loads of stupid stuff offering me money in exchange for my details etc... yeah they wish lol

p.s. candy on my blog tomorrow too while I take a break...so don't forget to pop by :)

I hate word verfication. Its often so hard to read. It would be better if we could program it ourselves. A site I visit has its own take on this. Its asks easy math questions like whats 1+1 or whats 5-3 and you type in the answer as verficiation. Spam bots don't manage this and it more fun. Pluss easier on the eyes!

I have two blogs. One personal on a forum I frequent. Here only forum members can post so no verfication possible or needed. One is here on blogger but due to illness I forgot about it for a long time. I had to put up verfication though since I got lot of spam posts:( Only comments where spam.

I am from Norway:) Thanks for making the contest international. We don't have that many places to buy cool stamps from here.

Hi there!
I only activated the comment verification (which in turn activated a word verification) recently because I was getting strange comments on my blog, and some of them were leaving very suspicious looking links...
moderation seems to be scaring these phishers off.

I tolerate word verification because I like lots of the blogs that have it, but I often have to enter the "word" a 2nd time because I had trouble reading the first one. Now that I visit blogs on a regular basis the word verafication is a *pain* Perhaps now is the time to modify.

Hi Flossie!

Thanks for asking such a great question! It's really neat to read all of the answers... interesting!

I don't like word verification either - like so many of your readers. However, I am very big on safety and don't want to worry about strange comments or viruses spreading through my computer.

Sometimes the verification letters are tough to read and I think they should make the task easier. But, if there is anything I can do to make my computer less vulnerable, I will do it.

I live in the USA.

Have a great day Flossie!!

Got here just in time! I don't do letter verification because I don't like filling it in on other blogs - I always feel the artwork is worth filling it in though so it won't stop me leaving a comment!
I am outside the USA. I am so glad to participate - thanks!

ciao Flossie,
great blog candy, wow!!!
I use word verification... even though I hate it myself. I have had one or two unwanted comments

I agree with you on the word verification, but I was getting to many spam posts. Yuck!

Love your blog as you know :-)
congrat's on all the hits. I love checking in!

Have a great rest of your week!!!

Hi Flossie, congrats on the 10k hits. I'm in the UK and I don't use word verification, I agree that it can be difficult to read. I guess if I started getting a lot of spam then I would though.

Hi Clare here in the UK - love your blog! I do have the verification thingy on my blog as I don't mind typing it in on other peoples. The setting that means that a comment needs blog owner approval before it shows used to confuse me as I couldn't work out why my comment wasn't showing!
